Electric actuators play a major part in automating process control systems. The electric actuator is mounted to the stem of a valve either directly or with mounting brackets/coupling using custom mounting kits. Electric actuators may also be supplied with a gear box to increase or decrease the speed in which the valve is opened or closed or to increase the required torque.
The two most prevalent types of electric actuators, rotary and linear actuators, should be used with a valve positioner so that the exact degree of the valve’s opening or closing is confirmed at the control system. The type of valve utilized will determine which of these electric actuators should be used.
Also known as multi-turn actuators are required for multi-turn valves such as gate, penstock, or globe valves. These types of valves require several turns to either open or close the valve.
Linear actuators are used on valves that have a straight up or down motion on the stem such as sliding stem valves.
SABA Instruments takes the hassle out of your job by packaging the valve, actuator, and accessories you need into complete, automated on-off and control assemblies.
